English Language Department Students Conduct Edgar Allan Poe Literary Workshop at Baz Private High School

Erbil, January 11, 2026 — Students from the English Language Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized and delivered a literary workshop at Baz Private High School on Sunday, January 11, 2026, targeting 11th-grade students. The workshop focused on the literary works of Edgar Allan Poe, including his short stories, novel, and poetry, and was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Marwa Mahmood Ameen.

Second-, third-, and fourth-stage students from the department actively participated in delivering the workshop. Upon arrival, the university students were warmly welcomed by the school Principal, Ms. Sivana, and Mr. Razwan Jumaa Abdulla.

The workshop opened with a presentation by a third-stage student, who introduced a concise biography of Edgar Allan Poe, highlighting his literary career, major works, and lasting influence on English literature. Each academic stage then contributed to the workshop by presenting content related to a specific literary genre assigned to them.

The workshop concluded with an engaging poetry session delivered by fourth-stage students, who presented and analyzed Poe’s renowned poem “The Raven.” The students explained selected verses and discussed the central themes, messages, and lessons conveyed in the poem.

The event witnessed strong engagement from the 11th-grade students, who actively participated throughout the sessions. The workshop concluded with positive feedback from the students, as well as from Ms. Sivana and Mr. Razwan, who expressed their appreciation for the initiative and emphasized their commitment to supporting continuous learning and interest in English literature.
