The Department of Translation, Cihan University-Erbil, conducted a two-day workshop in Cihan University’s Academic Hall, entitled “Translation Evaluation from Theory to Practice”. The workshop which was held on the 15th and 16th of December 2021, commenced with a short speech by Dr. Sirvan A. Aminzadeh, Head of Translation Department, about the importance of translation evaluation, and presenting the timetable of events of the workshop. The first day of the workshop has been officially started with the presentation of “Machine Translation Out-put Assessment” by Assistant Lecturer Fereydoon Rasouli and the event continued with the presentation of a seminar entitled “Process-oriented Assessment of Problems and Errors in Translation” delivered by Assistant Lecturer Mr. Mushtaq Jameel. The second day of the workshop started on Thursday 16th Dec 2021 in the same location by presenting “Evaluating News Headlines in Translations” by Assistant Lecturer Fereshteh Azizi Fard followed by Mr, Imadin Zannrni’s presentation entitled “Quality Assessment in Audio Description”. Dr. Sirvan A. Aminzadeh presented his seminar entitled “An Eclectic Method of Translation Evaluation ” as a closing event of the workshop. There was a fruitful discussion during and after each presentation that motivated the audience to get familiar more with the notions of translation and translation evaluation in their different aspects.
