Title
Computer Network Protocols: Remote Login and DHCP
Abstract
In computer networks there are many network protocols for remote login such as Telnet and SSH. Telnet stands for Telecommunication Network. It is a virtual terminal protocol. It allows a user to access a system remotely. In remote control, a session appears in which the user can manage the files on the remote computer, although the session appears to be functioning locally. Telnet is an early version of a remote control application. SSH is a program for logging in to and executing commands on a remote machine. It provides secure encrypted communications between two untrusted hosts over an insecure network. Also, The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network management protocol used on Internet Protocol (IP) networks, whereby a DHCP server dynamically assigns an IP address and other network configuration parameters to each device on the network, so they can communicate with other IP networks. A DHCP server enables computers to request IP addresses and networking parameters automatically from the Internet service provider (ISP), reducing the need for a network administrator or a user to manually assign IP addresses to all network devices. In the absence of a DHCP server, a computer or other device on the network needs to be manually assigned an IP address.
