The Department of English at Cihan University–Erbil will host an academic seminar titled “Boosting Speaking Skills and Motivation: Using Scaffolding Phrases to Enhance Fluency” on 20 November 2025. The seminar will be presented by Assistant Lecturer Marwa Mahmood Ameen and supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
The session will explore effective strategies for improving students’ speaking skills and motivation in the EFL classroom, drawing on Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory. It will highlight the importance of scaffolding, teacher guidance, interactive activities, and positive feedback in developing learners’ confidence and fluency. The seminar also emphasizes the role of motivation, self-esteem, and supportive teacher–student interaction in creating an engaging learning environment.
