Business Administration Department Organizes Mental Health Training Course

The Department of Business Administration at Cihan University – Erbil organized a specialized training course on mental health, held over several days in January 2026, as part of the university’s efforts to promote students’ psychological well-being and academic success.

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the second day of the training, Ms. Fatima Ali Ayada, a psychology instructor at the Directorate of Education in Nineveh, and Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay Hamid Al-Salami, a lecturer at Cihan University – Erbil, delivered a series of lectures on mental health-related topics. Ms. Fatima emphasized the importance of mental health in achieving academic success, explaining its direct impact on students’ ability to focus, learn effectively, and manage stress. She also highlighted the role of mental well-being in developing a balanced personality and fostering positive social interaction, which contributes to social stability and peace.

In his presentation, Dr. Qusay Hamid Al-Salami discussed the rapid development of digital technologies and explained how artificial intelligence tools can support the mental health of university students through smart applications and intelligent systems. He noted that these tools can help monitor emotional well-being, provide personalized guidance and support, enable early detection of mental stress, and raise mental health awareness in line with the digital era.

On the third day of the course, Thursday, January 22, 2026, Ms. Batool Abbas Fadhl, a psychology instructor at the Directorate of Education in Nineveh, addressed the importance of maintaining mental health among university students, focusing on effective time management and the development of strong social relationships. Following this, Assistant Professor Dr. Younis Salahaddin Mohammed, a lecturer at Cihan University – Erbil, discussed the ethical and legal aspects of artificial intelligence, highlighting the importance of responsible and appropriate use of AI in scientific research.

The training course focused on the foundations of mental health, coping strategies for mental stress, and understanding emotional challenges faced by students. The sessions were delivered in a scientific and practical manner through discussions, real-life examples, and interactive exercises, aiming to raise students’ awareness and enhance their ability to protect and maintain their mental well-being.

At the conclusion of the course, Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Qasim Pirdawod, Head of the Department of Business Administration, awarded certificates of participation to the students and attendees.

Through organizing this course, the Department reaffirmed that such scientific and social activities are an essential part of Cihan University – Erbil’s strategy to create a healthy, peaceful, and supportive educational environment for its students.
