Seminar on “The Dead Horse Theory” Highlights Innovation and Adaptability

The Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil held an academic seminar titled “The Dead Horse Theory” on 23 October 2025, presented by Lecturer Aram Hanna Massoudi.
The seminar examined the concept of persisting with failing or outdated initiatives despite clear evidence of their ineffectiveness, using the “dead horse” metaphor to explain this behavior. It discussed the psychological, cultural, and organizational barriers that prevent individuals and institutions from abandoning unproductive paths.
By emphasizing the importance of redirecting resources toward more viable and innovative alternatives, the seminar supported SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, encouraging adaptive decision-making and sustainable organizational development.
