Cihan University–Erbil Celebrates World Radiography Day and Highlights Advances in Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging

Under the patronage of the President of Cihan University–Erbil, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Dalawi, and in the presence of his representative, Professor Dr. Ayad Hazim, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, the Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies organized a large-scale scientific celebration on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, marking World Radiography Day.

The event was held at the university’s Conference Hall in cooperation with the Iraqi Society of Medical Physics and the Kurdistan Physicists Syndicate, with the support of specialized medical companies, most notably Al-Itqan Company and Iraqi Smart Medical Solutions Company. This collaboration reflects the university’s strategic vision of strengthening partnerships between academic institutions and the professional medical sector.

The celebration witnessed distinguished attendance by radiologists, imaging technologists, representatives of medical companies, and healthcare professionals. The program commenced with a speech by Assistant Professor Dr. Nashwan Al-Karkhi, representative of the Iraqi Society of Medical Physics in the Kurdistan Region, followed by a welcoming address by the Head of the Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies, Assistant Lecturer Omar Adil, who reaffirmed the university’s annual commitment to celebrating this occasion to promote technological advancement in radiology.

The scientific agenda included a specialized workshop on applications of artificial intelligence in radiological imaging, as well as a panel discussion addressing the integration of human expertise with intelligent technologies and the challenges facing the profession. In parallel with the celebration, an exhibition showcasing fourth-stage students’ graduation projects was inaugurated, alongside dedicated booths for sponsoring companies presenting the latest medical imaging equipment.

In feedback from attendees, Assistant Lecturer Ru’a Imad Hussein from Hawler Medical University praised the richness of the event’s scientific content, stating that “the focus on artificial intelligence reflects Cihan University’s vision in supporting both academic and practical development.” Similarly, Dr. Ahmed Diaa Abdulwahab, a radiology specialist, described the event’s organization as outstanding, noting that “the artificial intelligence workshop was highly valuable and aligned with global trends.”

The event concluded with widespread acclaim from participants, highlighting Cihan University–Erbil’s pioneering role in developing medical professionals and keeping pace with the latest international technologies in medical imaging.
