Cihan University–Erbil : Academic Year 2024–2025
- Introduction
This accreditation report presents a quantitative and qualitative analysis of academic, extracurricular, and community engagement activities conducted at Cihan University–Erbil during the 2024–2025 academic year. The report aims to evaluate institutional performance using numerical indicators and participation ratios, in accordance with national and international accreditation standards.

- Data Source and Methodology
The dataset consists of 204 recorded activities conducted across 28 academic departments. Activities were categorized into ten types: training courses, sports activities, art activities, national workshops, national symposiums, national conferences, international workshops, international symposiums, international conferences, and volunteer activities.
Descriptive statistical methods were used to calculate frequencies and ratios (percentages) to support accreditation-based evaluation.


- Overall Activity Distribution
Out of the total 204 activities:
- Volunteer activities: 88 activities (43.1%)
- Training courses: 34 activities (16.7%)
- National workshops: 29 activities (14.2%)
- Sports activities: 27 activities (13.2%)
- Art activities: 8 activities (3.9%)
- National symposiums: 6 activities (2.9%)
- National conferences: 4 activities (2.0%)
- International workshops: 4 activities (2.0%)
- International symposiums: 2 activities (1.0%)
- International conferences: 2 activities (1.0%)

These findings indicate that 59.8% of all activities are related to community engagement and professional development (volunteering and training).

- Departmental Participation Analysis
4.1 High-Engagement Departments
Five departments collectively account for 92 activities (45.1%) of the institutional total:
- Business Administration (DBAD): 25 activities (12.3%)
- Biomedical Sciences (DBMS): 24 activities (11.8%)
- Media (DMED): 15 activities (7.4%)
- Nutrition and Dietetics (DNUT): 15 activities (7.4%)
- Computer Science (DCSC): 13 activities (6.4%)

These departments demonstrate strong alignment with accreditation indicators related to student engagement, employability skills, and community impact.

4.2 Moderate Engagement Departments
Departments with 5–10 activities include Public Administration, Community Health Nursing, Physical Education and Sport Science, Law, and General Education. Together, these departments contributed 49 activities (24.0%), reflecting acceptable but improvable engagement levels.
4.3 Low or Minimal Engagement Departments
Four departments recorded zero or one activity, accounting for less than 2.0% of total institutional engagement. These departments require targeted intervention to meet accreditation benchmarks related to student development and extracurricular participation.
- Analysis by Activity Category
5.1 Training Courses
A total of 34 training courses were conducted, representing 16.7% of all activities. Business Administration alone accounted for 11.8% of all training courses, indicating strong emphasis on professional capacity building.

5.2 Sports and Art Activities
- Sports activities: 27 activities (13.2%)
- Physical Education and Sport Science contributed 33.3% of all sports activities.
- Art activities: 8 activities (3.9%)
- Concentrated mainly in Media and Graphic Design departments.

5.3 Academic Events (Workshops, Symposiums, Conferences)
- National-level academic events: 39 activities (19.1%)
- International-level academic events: 8 activities (3.9%)
The ratio of national to international academic events is approximately 5:1, indicating limited international exposure.

5.4 Volunteer Activities
Volunteer engagement represents the largest activity domain, with 88 activities (43.1%).
- Biomedical Sciences contributed 21.6% of all volunteer activities.
- Nutrition and Dietetics and Business Administration together accounted for 28.4% of volunteer engagement.

Quantitative analysis confirms that Cihan University–Erbil demonstrates strong institutional performance in community engagement and professional development. However, increasing international academic participation and achieving balanced departmental involvement will significantly strengthen accreditation outcomes.
