The Department of Architectural Engineering organized a workshop entitled “Architecture in History” which was presented by the faculties of Architectural Engineering as follows Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahar Hilal Al-Dujaili, Assist. Lect. Nareen Riyadh Raouf and Assist. Lect. Musaab Sami Younus on 12th– 14th April, 2019 in Cihan University-Erbil.
In the first lecture of this workshop, was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahar Hilal Al-Dujaili, Title- History of Islamic Architecture. The lecture discussed sources of Islamic Architecture, types of Architectural Islamic Buildings, characteristics and styles of Islamic Architecture and also its focused on started with establishment of Islamic architecture, then Omayyad, Abbasid, Seljuk’s, Ayyubid, Mameluke, Iranian and Ottoman Turkish Architectural styles; the lecture discussed and analyzed different examples for each style.
The second lecture was presented by Assist. Lect. Nareen Riyadh Raouf, Title- Classical Architecture in Europe. The lecture discussed Classical Ages in Europe includes ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. In addition to these, classical times goes back to the prior civilizations of ancient Greeks; The Minoans and the Mycenaean and of the Romans; the Etruscans. GREEK ARCHITECTURE is the architecture of Ancient Greece is The Architecture produced by THE GREEK-SPEAKING PEOPLE (Hellenic people). This was for a period from about 900 BC until the 1st century AD, with the earliest remaining architectural works dating from around 600 BC. The Romans adopted the columnar and Trabeated style of the Greeks and developed also the arch, vault, and dome of the Etruscans. This combined use of column, beam, and arch is the keynote of the Roman style in its earliest stages.
Final lecture was presented by Assist. Lect. Musaab Sami Younus, Title- Review on History of the Renaissance Architecture. The lecture reviews briefly history of the renaissance architecture including time, place, characteristics of architecture, elements of buildings, architects, and some greatest masterpieces of architects. Knowing that, the renaissance architecture is one of the subjects in fourth stage in architectural engineering department.
